PC without case

Hi, I want to ask a stupid question, but I want to test by playing on my new build, but my case is 2-3 days away. Is using a pc without case and gonna put it on anti static plastic from motherboard and put them on motherboard box? Is it basically the same with testbench? What I think is testbench is the proper and professional way of doing it.

for pure post testing, use the box only, but you should wait for your case. not saying you must

So I don't have to use the anti static plastic?

no, today there isn't any harm with new motherboards, the seal isn't really a protection. and if you do it with older bags it could even be dangerous

Is there any other thing to replace the box that won't cause trouble?

yeah, the case. but that's the only anti-static thing i can think of

I've ran caseless for over a year before. The system will get hella dusty, but 2-3 days isn't going to do anything. Just remember not short your motherboard out if it doesn't have a power button.

Anything made of wood or paper (like the box) will be fine for what you're doing. Chance of ESD on wood/paper is pretty much nil. If I ever got ESD damage from something sitting on a cardboard box then I would feel like going out to buy a lottery ticket.

 

Just don't set your stuff on the anti-static bag. Those bags only protect against ESD for things inside the bag, not outside.
