About gigabyte...

Exdominator

So i saw on the internet that people consider the gtx 1050 gigabyte GPU to be bad (or at least not good bcz its gigabyte)
Also when i told to some guys that i have a gigabyte motherboard they told it wasnt good (i didnt teell them what model just that its gigabyte...)
So i want to ask... is there something wrong with gigabyte? Is there something i'm missing?
PS: not a tech guy so don't expect me to understand way to technical details...

I use a gigabyte board, no issues so far. They're a pretty good value brand honestly.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

I have 2 gaming boxes. The RX580 is labeled gigabyte while the GTX 1080 is labeled Aorus. They come out of the same factories. One gets more bells and whistles and lights and the other gets a lower price tag. There's a chance the Aorus stuff is better binned, but it all still has to pass strict quality control.

Gigabyte isn['t really low-end; however, they don't have any high enthusiast boards. Yeah, you could go out and buy an extreme high-end mobo, but most people wouldn't use one.

But for mid-end its pretty much the same with the others that's what you are saying? I mean so far i dont have any problems and everything works great

Like ANY other brand, Gigabyte will have products ranging from low-tier to top-tier.

ASUS, AsRock, MSi...EVGA...are all like this.

If you buy a budget model GTX 1070, don't expect it run cooler, or overclock as high as a high-end model GTX 1070.

Example:

  • ASUS Dual GTX 1070 vs ASUS ROG STriX GTX 1070
  • Gigabyte RX Vega 56 (Reference) vs Gigabyte Aorus G1 RX Vega 56
  • Gigabyte H310M DS2 motherboard vs Gigabyte X299 Designare EX motherboard

I have built and used many Gigabyte motherboards and video cards over the years, and no major problems or complaints.

Intel Z390 Rig ( *NEW* Primary )

Intel X99 Rig (Officially Decommissioned, Dead CPU returned to Intel)

  • i7-8086K @ 5.1 GHz

I have a Gigabyte B450 and it works fine.  My biggest complaint is with their app center software (I keep getting a driver can't update error).  It is not easy to install and you need it if you want to control the mobo RGB without going into the BIOS.

I never had good experience with Gigabyte motherboards. Graphic cards were fine on the other hand and I've had quite few of them, some from years ago and some recently. I currently own AORUS which is basically Gigabyte.

Not only Gigabyte has this problem, ASUS' equivalent runs into problems too.

IMO, better to download the drivers/software directly from the motherboard support page.

It's not so much paying the same money.

You just cannot really compare a... Grade-C product from one company, to a Grade-A product from another company.

Gigabyte Aorus / G1 / Designaire is comparable to ASUS' ROG / STriX, and MSi's Gaming / XPower / GodLike.

Ah, okay...yes, more or less.

Some board features, VRM design, and motherboard layout will vary...but that will vary just between the different board models anyway.
