Hi, I am not able to run an ethernet cable all the way down my stairs. Also, I am especially not allowed to just drill a hole through the floor and run ethernet directly to my router.

I need a way to connect to my router via WiFi but then use an ethernet cable for my network switch that I have in my room.

What kind of products can achieve this? Every time I have looked for this, it has been access-points that go the opposite way (ethernet to WiFi).

Thank you

It's possible to do that.

If you have a Raspberry Pi, you can set up a DHCP server that'll let you convert Wifi to Ethernet.

Almost any wifi range extender will do this very easily. Most of them have a ethernet port in the bottom, so all you have to do is setup the extender with your existing network, and plug in to the port on the extender, and your good!

Heres one: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC750-Range-Extender-EX3700-100NAS/dp/B00R92CL5E/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1537219026&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=netgear+range+extender&psc=1

(There is cheaper ones, but this one is the one I have)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Here is something I bought a while back.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coredy-Extender-Wireless-Indicator-E300/dp/B01BDC74Q6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1537220390&sr=8-4&keywords=coredy+wifi+extender

Note: this is not the exact model - mine has 3 antennas - but it is the same company and looks almost exactly the same.

Now for some reason, it did not work at all. Only five minutes ago did I realise that it has a switch on the side which has three options: Router, Repeater and AP.

Does this device actually support WiFi to ethernet? If so, what did I do wrong for it not to work last time? lol

If you have coax near your router and in your room, Id look at Moca adapters.

If that is not the case, if you have an old router laying around that is DDWRT compatible, you can use that as a wireless bridge.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Actually you can't, WiFi to Ethernet adapters only are designed to connect one client - as you need WDS Access Point mode on your main WiFi in order to connect multiple clients over a single WiFi connection.

Obviously you could use a second router to NAT that single WiFi connection, but then you run into double-NAT issues when hosting games.

Its probably easier to try a powerline adapter kit with multiple ethernet ports on it as its designed for this.
