Usually whichever is bigger, followed by the faster fan

Check for a Thermalright Macho cooler

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The stock fan is probably fine or better, you usually want a pressure optimized fan on a heatsink over an airflow fan.

Spend less money on something like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 or Hyper T2. The CPU isn't overclockable so temperatures won't be a huge issue unless you live in a desert.

You already own this PC right?

Most heatsinks will be fine on RAM clearance, could always bend/cut some fins anyways.

because your motherboard will die (2 times over) before the chip if the difference in temps are 70C and 75C under load

A bigger/better cooler also means lower noise

There's not much reason to upgrade your CPU for a while.

If anything wait and see Ryzen 3000 next year, at least you'll get more cores for your money most likely

If you have the money that you saved up...then sure dude...just get it. Whatever cpu you get in the future it will cool it and you clearly want it. Assuming you saved up your money for it and you took your mom on a date first and still have money left over...then just get it.

Before I make a recommendation...does your motherboard have a RGB header?
