The only keyboard I know of off-hand with two passthroughs is the Model S. This is by no means to say it's the only one, but it is the only one I know of.

S for the switch, that is entirely subjective. Nearly everyone will type faster on a mechanical switch, but membrane keyboards get the job done when all is said and done.
If you've never used one, the "ignorance is bliss" applies. You've been using membrane, and it's worked well enough that you've not sought an alternative until now. There's a number of different switch manufacturers, and switches within their lineup, all are different in their own ways.

Personally, I won't be going back to membrane any time soon outside of the situations where I have no choice. They're mushy, heavy, and all-around a typing experience I do not like now that I live in a world where I've been exposed to mechanical switches.
