Hey, so I've been doing a lot of research for my build (which is under £1500) and I think I've finally came to a conclusion of what I should get!

Please let me know if I could do something better/need to fix anything/improve things

--EDIT: I FORGOT TO PUT THAT I AM OVERCLOCKING

Thanks!

I like it! You've chosen great components, I like your cooler, memory, and PSU choice. It's an impressive build for under £1500 for sure.

An I7 8700 non K is a better choice than the 8600K for value with coffee lake

A Ryzen 5 2600 is likely the best overal value CPU

You should be buying a far cheaper 1070ti instead which has 90% the same performance with a 2 minute OC

Otherwise whats your monitor resolution and refresh rate? If it's just 1080p 60hz you don't need that tier of GPU

The monitor resolution is 1080p 144hz.

Also about the i7 I would like to keep it strictly under £1500 but thanks for the suggestion.

I recommend changing "a few" parts. Also do keep in mind that Nvidia's next gen cards and Intel's next CPU series are launching soon. For the monitor, you should really be aiming for 1440p 165Hz.

An 8700 and a low end air cooler is a much more sensible option than an 8600K and a £100 cooler, imo. Cheaper RAM. Cheaper Z370 motherboard. NVMe SSDs won't improve Windows boot times or game load times. Cheaper HDD. 1080 Ti, although do keep in mind the next gen cards. A cheaper case. A much more sensible PSU. You can get a Windows key for ~£25.

would this build generate more fps in 1080p and be able to run higher qualities faster than my current build or no?

Why 1080p?

Yes, the 1080 Ti performs better than the 1080, and the 8700 either equals or outperforms the 8600K.

Does the hdd and ssd contribute towards boot times/speeds on the computer are these ones better?

The HDD makes no difference, as both HDDs are equal. This one is just cheaper.

The SSD won't make a difference at this point, not for boot times or game load times.

Is this build able to handle overclocking stably?

Because the 8700 is a locked CPU. There isn't a need enable overclocking if it significantly reduces the overall performance.

Ahh,I forgot about that, I could spend a little more money to get the k as your build adds in a lot more power while saving more money! So I can get a k if that's no problem, then it can be an absolute beast.

Not really worth it, as it won't improve the performance much, if at all. Adding more CPU power is meaningless if the CPU isn't a limiting factor.

Oh well, I'm still willing to pay the extra to get the little bit more power. Am I going to need a better cooler to do so or no?

A better cooler, a better motherboard, and ideally a delidding tool and liquid metal.

As I said, not worth it, and you won't get extra power. Extra power consumption, yes.

Oh I saw that you can overclock the i7-8700k to 5.1ghz so I went ahead and modified the build a little but it does go £10 over 1500 but its extremely good value for the components imo https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yn6629 what do you think

The locked i7 doesn't require as heavy cooling, and can be used on a cheaper B360 board price of decent Z370+8600K+cooler usually ends up close

That cooler isn't really good enough for overclocking an i7 8700K, especially without delidding.

the case is kind of a hot box as well.

Would recommend a 650W PSU for that kind of system.

You really don't need anything above a GTX 1070 or 980ti for 1080p 144hz, especially not a 1080ti.

Are you sure you'd rather not save $500 on the PC, or use that money on an upgrade to a 1440p 144hz IPS display? Or just keep it...

Still has plenty of performance for anything you'd want to do.

the 212 evo isn't gonna cut it for any sort of overclocking on the 8700k.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W
