First Gaming PC. Max 3000$ budget. Need Help!!!

So I'm on vacation for 2 months at home and I want to game. This is the hardware I picked so far, I need help with the rest (I have a vague idea of what's left to get).

This is the hardware I picked so far:

- Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming Motherboard (200$)*

- Intel Core i7-8700k 6-core 300 series (460$)

- 16GB GSkill RipJaws V DDR4 (202$)

- MSI GTX 1080 TI (900$)

*prices in Canadian rubles

Any help or advice is appreciated. Last time I even touched the inside of a tower I was putting in an Nvidia 9400 GT and trying to game by coupling it with a Core 2 Duo so my experience is limited and ancient :P.

Thank you very much, in advance, for all your help!!!

P.S. I will try not to drop any part of it ;)

If you've not got the experience to take advantage of the unlocked part, you might not be able to overclock and make the most of your really expensive CPU and motherboard. If you downgrade to a fancy B360 motherboard, you can spend a little extra on premium storage like the Samsung 970 Evo.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Most definetly a M.2 SSD like a 960/970 Evo/Pro

For the PSU my go to is the EVGA SuperNova G2 650W

Jesus, spend his money like water, damn.

Just because you HAVE $3k to spend, doesn;'t mean you need to.  Do you need 6TB of storage?  A Pro as a boot drive?  Are you smoking?   Pro is for workloads for content creators, not gamers.

What cases are you looking at?

Get a good 650W PSU, nice G-Sync monitor to utilize the 1080Ti and maybe a AIO for the CPU.  I'd upgrade the mobo to the Gamer 3 or 5, personally.  1TB ssd for boot/games, then any size HDD you need for storage.

I can get it for 150$ on Newegg. I'm thinking for future-proofing, if I get it now, whenever I upgrade anything, I should be fine.

Would I still be fine with the 650W?

Yeah, you would be fine with a 650w, I use one with similar gear.  Future proofing?  I guess, if things get more power hungry.

That's not a good build for several reasons. Firstly, the 970 EVO is completely overkill and a 250GB drive will fill up quickly. Secondly, the Hyper 212 isn't gonna keep an 8700K at comfortable temps, buy a better cooler like a Be Quiet Dark Rock 4. Lastly, the PSU should be changed to something like a Corsair RM650x.

What about a Samsung - 860 Evo 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive as a boot drive with the Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive for games and storage. I switched up the PSU and CPU fan to your recommendations.

Also, I'm not sure if the case fits this all, what do you think? It's the NZXT - S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case.

Not to completely blow my own horn, but I think I have a pretty well balanced system in my sig, very similar to what's been discussed in this thread.  It works very well for me and OC's very well.

You don't need to future proof with higher power output because new components become more efficient over time. Just compare the 970 to the 770, it's like half the power draw

Okay, I'm thinking of the Corsair - RMx (2018) 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply it was recommended in this thread, would that work?

Also, how would a combination of Samsung - 860 Evo 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive as a boot drive with the Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive work? Would it be okay for gaming or should I go for an SSD as a storage drive?

With peripherals and everything, my build currently looks like this https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dP9ZXP

You have a 1080p 144Hz Freesync Monitor with a 1080 ti. That is a waste of the gpu. You would be better off going with a Vega 56 for that monitor so you can make use of Freesync.

As for the storage you would have the SSD as your boot drive and also install games on it. The hard drive just use for large file storage.

I would get a case with better airflow i.e something like a Fractal Meshify. Then you probably wouldn't need the extra fans.

I'm kind of set on the 1080 ti. What monitor would work best?

In that case, should I splurge on a better SSD?

Wouldn't I still need more fans? The Meshify Dark TG comes with 2 120mm's. Is that enough?
