External HDDs

RAM555789

Couple of questions I'm looking to get answered.

1. Are they worth it, why or why not?

2. Are devices more commonly USB 2.0 or 3.0?

3. Would certain kinds of data be better put on a external HDD than others? (example footage you just recorded and don't plan to edit for a couple days, or archived footage you wanna hold onto for a bit)

Example of a HDD I am looking at :https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G7966722&cm_re=external_hard_drive-_-22-149-707-_-Product

1. Depends on you needs?

2. Almost all modern external hdds are usb 3.

3. There great for backups and data that needs to be easily moved between systems.

No point unless you need the footage to be portable.

And if that was the case, an SSD is better for durability.
