I'd definitely get a HDD like 1-2TB as well, im guessing you'll be playing games with that gpu so you're definitely going to run into storage issues with only 256GB. This is coming from someone with a 256GB m.2 SSD and rarely plays games, it would definitely be an issue for me if I didn't have my hard drives. Other than that it should be a great budget system. The Hyper 212 evo might not be necessary, Im pretty sure the stock cooler is decent enough, but its so inexpensive its really a minor consideration.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

I think the entire build goes extremely well together and everything is highest "performance" per dollar in every category. I'd say get a better power supply since your power supply is the only that is "future proof". Power supplies and cases are the only pc components that will last in the future so I'd say go wild spending on em but up to you.

sorry I meant is the msi tomahawk better

The tomahawk is a great board.

The reason is due to VRM and VRM heatsinks. A lack of a good heatsink will lead to high temps om the VRMs leading to worse OC and worse lifeexpectancy of the chip.

Yeah i would get an X470 board at least. Also since AMD is planning on using the AM4 socket for a while you can upgrade it later on.

CPU could be cheaper if you only play on 1080 and not to crazy games.

@GoldenLag would the X-470 gaming plus be an alright board as on amazon where I buy my stuff its $129 vs $110 for the b450 tomahawk but the tomahawk wont ship for over a month which is weird but yea is the X-470 gaming plus a good board compared to the tomahawk?

I got this working pretty nicely, but im using 1st gen Ryzen on there. Pretty good board for pretty good price.

The X470 gaming plus is just a B 450 with slightly differebt chipset. Other than that the VRM issues still stand.

The ASrock PRO4 and the K4 have the the same VRMs and its pretty good. The K4 is just more expencive than the PRO4

Hey so im doing as build and on another form the guy said my b450 gaming plus by msi that im going with over the tomahawk because of a one month wait for it on amazon, is a pretty bad board because the vrm's are bad compared to the tomahawk from what i could see researching it they have the same maybe im wrong, but i was just wanting to get some other opinions and also if the gaming plus atx is bad is the micro atx version any better?
