So I have recently bought a pre built system with an i5 4440 and the temps are 40-50C IDLE, 70-80 on most games hitting up to 100c in CSGO ( Don't worry I limit my FPS etc to a point of max 75 C so it wasn't exposed to this temp for too long)

Anyways, the PC had like no dust so its obviously the Thermal Paste, however one or two of the coolers push pins are stuck onto the motherboard. How can I get my cooler off without damaging my mobo or CPU?

I heard that a nail clipper may do the job but I am unsure and don't want to risk it.

Any help appreciated ( I CAN damage the cooler, I have a 212 evo coming in 3-4 days so ill just do it then)

Thanks in advance :)

You have to twist/pull the black part up, once you do this it releases the clips and you can remove the cooler.

You can see the black locking mechanism in your pics.  If the tops are broken, you can push the locking pins out with a flat tipped jewelers screw driver.

This^

Black pins first, then the  white parts can just be pulled out.

I did that for like a solid 20 minutes already, I got 2 of them off instantly but the other 2 wouldn't move no matter how I rotated the pins, even tried to do a 360 with it to see if it would budge.

i would take the motherboard out of the case, or push the black parts out. mabye try using needle nose pliers to take the white parts out.

Thanks, I really don't mind damaging the CPU fan, do you think that worse case scenario I could use nail clippers or something to just cut off the white parts, or would that not do anything?

I do not recommend this, you can damage the traces on the back of the board if you are not exceptionally careful.  Cut/break the pins on the top side.  Grab the black part with pliers and pull it out completely if needed.

Ok thanks, the number one thing I'm afraid of is damaging the stupid discontinued board :(
