Hi guys, would like some recommendations on the best upgrade required for my current setup

Planning on mostly Gaming on a single or double monitor

This is the current setup

Processor: Intel i5-4670

Mobo: Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Mobo (socket 1150)

Ram: 32g DDR3 Ram

GPU: GTX Geforce GTX 650 Ti BOOST

The reason for upgrading is that I get a constant beep during my games indicating my CPU temps are heating up to 80-90 degrees Celcius

The casing is a cooler master tower casing with fan cooling

Its either I optimize cooling options of my pc or upgrade my Mobo + processor and maybe even my RAM as most latest mobos don't support DDR3 anymore

Or an upgrade of everything T.T

So yea guys...trying to make the most economical choice here

Please kindly advice

Thanks in Advance!

What CPU cooler do you have ATM? If this is the only problem but you are satisfied with the performance then just buy a better CPU cooler. Something like a CM 213 Evo should be plenty to cool that could with.

Thanks Martward - its currently on the stock intel CPU fan

I think your suggestion might work

In the event that I would like to churn out more FPS - how does  the scenario change then sir

Thanks

Then you should upgrade the GPU, depending on what games you want to play and with which settings and FPS you would like.

Hi StreetGuru - Singapore - budget $200-$500 USD

No idea on what parts/pricing is then.

But if you just want to get onto a modern platform, get an R3 2200G PC, the intergrated graphics will actually be slightly faster than the 650ti depending on your memory speed, CPU is only comparable to your current one, but then you have AM4 for a long upgrade path.

Otherwise buy a CPU cooler and toss in an R9 370-380X or above depending on your used market.

He could look into a R9 290x. Though depending on his PSU he might have to grab a new PSU.

His CPU is still quite decent.

Thanks guys much appreciated - I'm currently rocking a 550W PSU

Might be interested in a GTX 1060 + a new CPU cooler

How do you reckon I work out if I have a PSU that's strong enough guys

If the PSU is decent it's fine, but look for an RX 570/580 if the price is comparable or the 570 is a lot cheaper, it saves you money on free-sync whenever you upgrade your display.

550W is enough for a 1060, I have been using a 520W with that GPU.
