LOOKING FOR A GOOD NAS DRIVE

Hello,

 

I'm looking for some NAS drives. I cannot decide whether or not I should go with the WD Reds/ Reds Pro? or Seagate Ironwolf/ Ironwolf Pro. I going to need 2 drives both either 4-8tb, to run in raid.

Go for the WD Red Pro. I have always used them in my Home Server and they have never failed me

I've never had a Seagate drive fail on me, while WD drives start to underperform after just a few years of use.

I've been running 8 of the 4TB WD Reds in my NAS for around 3 years now, never had an issue. 

The Seagates are quite good too nowadays.

I am using 4 6TB WD Red pros as people recommended WD reds I was like screw it and got Red pros

Ironwolf/Ironwolf Pros are also pretty good but a bit loud.

WD Golds if you have too much money or want extra security.

At my old job, we ran Red Pros. We were archiving status messages from 9 hydro-power plants every 10 seconds. So there was a ton of writing being done to these things year round. My whole time there (just over 2 years) and we never once had a hard drive failure. I highly recommend them.
