Gtx 1080ti vs Rtx 2080

DaCrewMaster

What do you thing the chances are that my 1080ti will out perform the 2080 that I just pre ordered with ray tracing turned off?

And yes, I am starting to have pre order remorse already.

Just posed myself the same question today. Looking at the specs I don't see that much advantage to be honest -> I am eager to see the first benchmarks.

I don't know about performance, guess we'll have to wait on the comparative benchmarks for that one, though the fact that the 2080TI can outperform 4xV100's is definitely something to consider

Just saw this.

http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Grafikkarten-Grafikkarte-97980/Videos/Nvidia-RTX-2080-Ti-Performance-in-Shadow-of-the-Tomb-Raider-1263244/

Apparently, Shadow of the Tomb Raider @ 1080P can't even reach 60 FPS when RTX is turned on.

I saw that performance stat. I want it so much to be in gaming performance but I'm almost certain its not. This whole "RT-OPS" and "Giga rays" gets me worried when they don't even give any relatable performance numbers. Not a single mention of FPS. I want so badly to know that the new cards are going to blow the old ones out of the water but if it was the case, then Nvidia would't have any problems saying so.

i plan to go from a GTX 1080 to RTX 2080ti as this i think will be a worthy upgrade.

1080ti to 2080 i most likely not gonna be worth your money, sure the 2080 will be noticeably faster...but not enough to be worth it IMO...just like the GTX 1080 wasn't a worthy upgrade to the 980ti (i fckd my 980ti so i had to buy a 1080, otherwise i'd still be using 980ti..)

Yep. I just cancelled my pre-order. I know not to pre-order stuff but that hype got me. It was like waking up the next morning and looking next to me in my bed and realizing what I have done.

The 1080 Ti and 2080 will be pretty much on pair, the Ray Tracing deal is the major difference... not worth you bothering about it at all, wait next years upcoming 7nm GPUs.

i'll wait for benchmarks, considering that there is bound to be performance upgrades compared to 1080/ti when you don't take ray-tracing into account and leave it unnactivated, my main concern though is possible bottlenecking due to the new architecture so i wanna see how it performs with skylake so I know whether to pair it with my 6700k or wait till next year to get Nvidia's 2019 card with intel's 9th gen CPU's.
