I mean my Budget is below 700, I already have a decent gaming Desktop, just looking for a solid laptop to carry around and something that will last for a while.

13 inches 600 USD

Then look for an X220 or X230 Tablet model

This one's $199 but there should be cheaper options, thinkpads are robust, and very easy to fix up, unlike a used macbook.

This one only has an i5 but is closer to the price I'd expect to pay, Newegg or Amazon may have units as well.

This is the battery I bought for mine, works great, you will likely need to replace the battery, and add an SSD of some kind

I think you are handling this wrong.

The question is how much is he willing to PAY YOU to take this thing off his hands.

The 2015 Models are really good IMO. Still thin and light but thick enough to cool their CPUs decently, my cousin's 15" only maxes the fans when actually rendering stuff in FCP X, I worked on that for about 6 months or so and I've gone on some video shoots and such with him and used it as well. BUT, I would defo look for one with 16GB RAM since there is no way to replace it without swapping out the entire mobo (which is over $700).

600 USD for the 256GB model I'm guessing? That's not too bad, if you're really set on a Mac, go for it

I think people are handling this a little oddly, if he wants a Mac, by all means go for it, he's not asking for consumer advice here.

As for any laptop you go to eBay and search for finished auctions for the MacBook Pro 2015 model, that should give you a reasonable estimate (Then lowball from there - 600 USD sounds reasonable for a 2015 model).

As for any expensive purchase, try one out in the store and if you like it, then buy it. Computers are an individuals preference anyway, they all do the same thing these days.
