1070Ti is overkill for Fortnite, unless you play 1440p/4K. At those resolutions, both Ryzen and Covfefe Lake perform about the same. Don't get the 1800X, though. Get the 2600X instead. The 8600K is also poor value, the 8400 would be better.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

The 2700X is the better deal, though, if going Ryzen 7.

No it is not overkill for Fortnite at 1080p. It's called 144Hz and 240hz. I'm gonna be playing Fortnite with my 1070 Ti because my monitor goes up to 180hz.

You don't need 144 or 200Hz to build stairs and jump shotgun from above, lmao.

Then go with Intel.

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Intel is best for gaming due to the higher single-thread speed, assuming you're not cutting your total core/thread count down below what the game is designed to use.

For Fortnite, either should do fine. What other stuff are you planning on doing?

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Yeah, everyone is.  I'd recommend high refresh (120Hz and up) at 1080p.  You're 1070ti won't do it in ALL games but older or less demanding (like fortnight) will really show you a difference at 120Hz

If you want higher FPS chose Intel if you want beter streaming chose AMD.

Intel Core I7 have got better cores but Ryzen more of them.

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8600K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-1800X/3941vs3916\

And you don't need 1070 Ti to play fortnite 1050Ti will handle it too but is much cheaper.

Says the person that overpaid for a low quality TN panel just to be "competitive". If you think the 144Hz placebo is the edge you need, then I'm afraid you're the casual here.

Then the 8600K will do just fine for you.

No one said it makes you better. But 144 Hz sure as hell looks a lot nicer, and looking nicer can make a difference.

Personally though, I don't think I'd have the record I have in Devil Daggers (arena/bullet hell FPS) if I didn't have a 144 Hz monitor. The game is ridiculously fast, and at 912 seconds (my record) it gets pretty damn hard to keep track of things.

That said, Devil Daggers is significantly faster than Fortnite or PUBG, but now that I've had 144 Hz it is something I will never go without. Looking at a 60 Hz panel now looks as choppy to me as playing games at 30 fps did when I was used to 60. I can't stand it.

I don't think that I need a 144hz panel to be competitive but it looks a lot better and the added fluidity has slightly assisted me with aiming. After going back to 60hz it feels like 40.
