My brother is a senior in highschool this year and my parents are trying to get him a laptop for college and he wants something that can play all his games but is still easy to carry from class to class and just have with him.

He has looked at the Razer Blade but it is too expensive for us, we are trying to stay below 2k.

We are thinking either the MSI gs70 stealth    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152444

or the

ASUS g750jx    http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-G750JX-DB71-17-3-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B00COQIKKA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388507832&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+g750jx+db71

could you tell us which would be best for this ^ and it is not limited to just these laptops we will look at all options! Thanks!

yep like the above

go with the Ideapad Y510

great quality and doesnt feel like a hunk of crappy plastic

also because it has nvidia graphics u can install the drivers from Nvidia unlike AMD laptops where you are at the mercy of  (Dell etc)

So if we buy him a Lenovo IdeaPad y510p should we go for the dual graphics card configuration or stick with the one card version?

I would probably suggest the SLI one, the 755/750 isn't exactly the most powerful GPU. In any configuration, don't expect to max out the settings, although it will still be playable.

i personally wouldn't touch any of them, for that price u can build a water cooled boss desktop, and the cpu in those is only 2.4GHz...... my Samsung 300e notebook has a petium B950 @ 2.2 and that pc was $250, 1 year ago. But if u want a mobile gaming system go with the ASUS one. Although there is this too for mobile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOGNUSvzjMI&feature=c4-overview&list=UUNovoA9w0KnxyDP5bGrOYzg

I Had an Msi GT780R and i was happy with it but the battery life is bad and by bad i mean really bad, I'd suggest not buying a gaming laptop and just get a laptop that can run his programs for school and build a desktop for gaming on. But I've had the chance to see the new MSI and i think it would be alright if you don't mind the battery life and the weight, if you go MSI get don't get a base model one and buy an extended warranty from MSI its worth it in the long run. As for the Asus comment above i had a g70 and it  was being fixed more than i every go to use it but that just my opinion. Asus customer service was pretty good though.
