I think they are still available, but no one uses it (You just have to look for them)

They are still a thing in Windows 10, it is under the personalization tab under the lock screen settings.

still very much possible, though few people use them anymore

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

When LCDs advanced to level where burning was't a thing. And when laptops got more popular. Moving screen saver uses more battery than turning screen off.
