R7 260x Strange FPS

the21robot

Hello, My I built my friend a pc a few days ago, he was gonna get a r9 270 but then he bought a r7 260x. The problem is that I am sad. His r7 260x out performs my 7850 and  he gets 70 fps while I get 57 fps. (I am not really sad) (We are playing bf3)

There are a lot of other things that play into FPS than the GPU. If he's running more/faster RAM, or a newer CPU, or even a faster hard drive, it could easily add some FPS.

Your graphics card could also be throttling due to heat. The most common sin in PC building both by experienced pre-builders (companies who build for consumers) and PC self-build newbs that directly smothers performance is in my experience terrible case air flow. I've probably seen a 100 examples of people running a case with a single 120mm intake fan in the bottom front of the case and either no output at all or using the PSU as exhaust. And often they are using some trash cooler master case.

The i3 is also not helping in this example.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I think the 260X is an amp'd up 7850 but a near 20fps difference is a bit odd.
