Watching movies on 1440p monitor

Is watching 720p movies on a 1440p 27" monitor look not as good as watching it on 1080p 24" monitor?

Oops I thought you meant 1080p on a 1080p monitor instead of 720p on a 1440p.

 

I'm not quite sure about that then. If it works how I think it does.. I think it'd look better on 1440p because it doubles the pixels per inch as apposed to taking only 1.5 as much.

It looks better on a 1440p display.

Bigger monitor means that you need bigger resolution for it to look the same. So yes it will look worse.

 

EDIT: This might just apply if both are the same resolution so don't listen to me ;)

It will look fine.  1440p is 4 times the resolution of 720p.  Its the same as 1080p content on a 4k display.  Each pixel can be quadrupled and it will look fine.  1080p content on the other hand will need to be scaled but it would look fine as well.  Your gpu will probably be doing the scaling for the monitor so it should look fine.
