wow, just finished reading that whole thing. Really shows how inaccurate (or in some cases like the shure 1840, awful) most headphones are!

hd800 stax009 he60 lcd-3 and hifiman he-6 are only cans that got A+ (which essentially means their accuracy)

the majority of others got a D or F

They basically picked their favorite headphones and formulated the "measurements" to rate everything else poorly.

How can you tell? I don't see any blatant bias and what in his formula used for ranking makes it seems that way?

The rating system is designed around giving points to what he likes to hear, and doesn't take into account what other people might like to hear. Additionally, most of the requirements to measure well enough to get a point are so far past the ability of human hearing it's just plain funny. What this guy wants is a perfect speaker, he doesn't take into account anything else.

arn't his requirments just based on total neutrality? headphones are like physical equalizers arn't they? The way I looked at it was no a measure of sound quality because obviously people prefer different things, but a measure of accuracy.

If it wasn't a measure of sound quality, why is there a rating system at all? The power point isn't called "Accurate Headphone Measurements" it's called "Here's how good and how bad some of the flagship headphones are."

If it was called what it was, I wouldn't have a problem, but it's a presentation to try to get you to believe that only some expensive headphones are worth owning, not an objective look at the pros and cons of each offering.

I'm going to disagree with you there. It was very objective measurement of each headphone. I saw no Bias, just facts. Sure, there are other things he could've measured, but I think you are just splitting hairs at that point.

Well, he wasn't saying "buy expensive phones" He bashed the hell out a lot of expensive cans as the proof was in the pudding.

Yeah, this is what I thought as well.

  • 3 months later...

O ok well i didn't look their and i live canada so if it is coming from the states it will be 1500 or so when everything hits.

Oh I didn't mean you were wrong about the pricing. I just meant that even at 1200 it's still ridiculous.
