Hello everyone!

i am planing my first build but there are a few things that im not so sure about. 

I'm using a 1440p ultrawide 60hrz to play games like GTA5, Gears of War 4, forza 7, project car 2, Division, world of warship, and I also do some video editing

 

Should I get a 1060 or 1070? Can I oc the 1060 and get close to 1070 performance? i don't want to wait for the 11 series bc the 1170 won't be announced till end of September.

 

im thinking of getting 3000mhz 16gb ddr4 ram, can i overclock them? how much can I overclock? or should I just turn on the XMP profiles?

 

I'm getting the Ryzen 5 2600 cpu, can I overclock it with the stock cooler?

You're going to want a 1070 at least for a 1440p Ultrawide if you want to push settings. A GTX 1060 overclocked can't really touch GTX 1070 performance, and overclocking the GTX 1070 would just increase the gap.

 

Overclocking RAM won't increase performance in any significant way, and overclocking the CPU will have a lesser effect since the monitor is so high resolution (though there should be a little headroom on the Wraith Stealth.)

1070 is better for your requirements, but 1070ti & 1080 are much better value.

nope, unless 1070 underclocks.

yes, but dont expect much on top of XMP settings

You might be able to overclock them beyond 3000MHz, but bear in mind that anything beyond advertisement is not guaranteed, and also that technically having memory running at 3000MHz is already considered an overclock. Even if memory is advertised to run at those speeds, it doesn't necessarily mean the CPU's memory controller is up to the task, and thus it's still not guaranteed. 

 

For the graphics card, I would just go with the 1070, and I believe you can overclock a little on the stock cooler, though it may not be by much and temperatures may not be necessarily ideal either.

not that bad. sure it's not going to be silent, but other cheap 1070s like the Zotac mini and Asus dual arent quiet at stock either.

Single fan 1050ti is alright, Single fan 1060s outside of ITX specific cards shouldn't exist.

Reviews, or really just how big/thick it is, same with fan size/speed.

 

It's obviously not as bad as putting it on a 1080ti here, but it's at most good for a low end 1060/RX 570
