I heard that the performance is not great even at highend builds with GTX 1080 Ti. I'd rather buy a GTX 1080. Prices will drop anyway in about a month.

And intel is also great.

Ill wait until Nvidia releases their new gpus the 11 hundred line up (according to rumors)

Is that game even optimized properly yet? I'd just wait. Really, it depends what quality setting you want to play it at.

IIRC the game is aiming to be the best graphics ever, so, really, you should get the best GPU to get the most out of it. I'd probably pair it with an 8600k/9600k.

So for now go with an AMD build such as 2600x or 2700 or 2700x. AMD's AM4 boards will be supported for quite sometime, even if they release a new CPU.

Could build an intel if you wanted to but who knows if the new CPU's will be compatible with todays intel boards. Nobody is for sure and they havent made any announcements.

I am working on a build. I was considering intel, but due to the unknowns of intel at the moment I went with an AMD build. AMD right now has excellent value per performance ratio and there CPUs come with a fan

If you do decide to go with intel go with the 8400 for now, when they release the 9700 series purchase the 8700k when the price goes down.

What would do better a processor with 6 cores and hyper threading or a processor with 8 cores and no hyper threading?

Most games are still on the 4 quad core count. They won’t use past that. At least for now. I’d go with the 2600x for 6 core. In a year or two upgrade to the 2700 or 2700x.

If if you plan on streaming, video editing, graphic design, CAD along with your gaming then yeah 8 cores would do wonders. If you are just doing gaming 6 cores will work.

I5 8400 is a 6 core and will do for now until you upgrade to the i7 8700k

I have been looking into this myself as well. But it appears that AMD would be the better route if I'm not mistaken the developer said AMD works better. And having more course also would be better I have been considering a threadripper just for the overkill and longevity I mean. But I don't know if it's worth the price ultimately.
