So i am stuck with an fx 6300 and gtx 1060 6gb

I have managed to get it to around 4.4 ghz with reasonable temps (But i needed to disable two cores). I know the fx lineup is ANCIENT but I really can't afford to upgrade my cpu and mobo to even a haswell. how bad of a performance hit can I expect?

Well FX can be kinda weird sometimes (In one of JayzTwoCents' videos it just kept shutting off under gaming load), but it should be decent.

I would strongly suggest lowering the clock speed.. To be able to keep all the cores, They are going to be more important then some clock speeds.

Much rather 6 cores then 4 cores.

What was your old CPU? You might not experience a hit if it's old enough.

Depends on game but you can see up to 30-40% less performance in CPU intensive games and up to 10-20% in GPU intensive games (1080p).

Thats just my calculated guess based on my friends FX8120 + 1060 6GB.

Can you keep the CPU at 4.2 with all 6 cores? What cooler are you using?

hi.

Well you can't have a "hit" in performance...

Leave it at stock and let it boost to its turbo of 4.1.

Ah. Well if you want 4.4 on all cores, you need a better cooler than that aluminum block.

hi.
