Need drivers for HP LaserJet 3052 scanner

fellow LTT forum members,

I need HP LaserJet 3052 scanner drivers urgently. I have checked the interwebs but could only find the drivers for the printer. If anyone has that particular driver in their posession, sharing would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

PS: would asking for Windows 10 64bit be pushing it??

There are no 64-bit drivers with scanner support. The printer is simply too old. You'll need to run a 32-bit operating system to operate the scanner.

These are the last drivers with scanner support, for Windows 2000/XP 32-bit:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software9/COL13820/ma-38918-3/lj3050x-309x-PCL5-pnp-win-en.exe

No such drivers for any 64-bit version of Windows.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

Some old XP 32-bit drivers can work in 64-bit windows 10. It doesn't hurt to try it

I've never seen any 32-bit driver work in any 64-bit OS ever, so that'd be interesting, lol.

@NelizMastr was right, it didn't work in the 64bit OS. Installation was unsuccessful. atleast this was the correct driver for the scanner. it detected the printer, which is more than what the drivers i previously tried managed to do.

I tried that, NAPS2, omni page pro. No scanner detected is the error message.

Then I'm afraid you'll need to get a new scanner that has 64-bit support.

i would like that too, for this arrogant dude to just buy a new one. he insists on keeping that thing even though he wants every other part of his system, software and peripherals, the latest.

He's SOL. He either loses scan functionality or goes off buying a new scanner. Sometimes you have to tell someone it's simply not possible. It's weird how HP has absolutely 0 64-bit support for this thing. I've never seen that before, not even on older Officejet printers from like 2001-2002.

this conversation wouldn't be happening if that wast the case. its a real issue and no, the drivers aren't built in for this antique piece of machinery which still runs perfect btw.

the photocopying and printing is working with the universal driver itself. and scanning function used to work when it was connected to the Win 7 machine that was issued to him earlier. so, I know it does work.

  • 1 year later...

I have the same HP Laserjet 3052 and just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro x64.  My scanner also did not work but I found the fix.  If you go to services.msc from the run command and scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and double click it you will find it is set to startup type:  manual and service status:  stopped.  Change it to startup type:  automatic and push the start button and the scanner will work with no additional drivers.
