Your CPU will do fine with either 1060, but as @Zando Bob mentioned, the 6Gb is more recommended.

I have an i7-2600 with 16GB DDR3 @ 1866MHz, so should I get the 3GB or 6GB variant of 1060?

3GB is 315 CAD and 6GB is 370.

Go for the 6GB, you'll want the VRAM and the GPU itself is a bit faster (kinda like the 1050 vs 1050 Ti). And the i7 2600 should be fine with that, I used to use an i5 2400 with my 980 Ti before I upgraded to an X58 Xeon (and most recently an R7 2700X).

Get the 6GB version or Rx 580 8GB

If you can get those i recommend scavanging the used market for an R9 290x or 390x. The 3GB version of the GTX 1060 is starting to reach the end of its lifespan due to the lack of Vram

Just keep your money then because Nvidia's likely to announce new GPUs on the 20th.

Of course AMD also gets you free-sync whenever you upgrade your display, doesn't make any sense to have a preference for one or the other, the RX 570 and 3GB 1060 are pretty comparable, with the RX 570 being that cheap it's the only thing I'd recommend.

The 470/570 4gb and 1060 3gb are foolish to buy now they've been out for two years and are at the low end of video cards. Why buy two year old low end stuff when OP is considering a midrange card? (1060 6gb) my 470 4gb is maxed out playing new titles what do you think it'll be like playing battlefield 5 with high graphics or stuff coming out in fall?

The RX 570/580 and 1060 3GB/6GB are all in the same bracket of mid range cards. The 1050ti and below are current low end.

For battlefield V it looks like they're using the same basic engine as Battlefield 1? They aren't going to make games that can't scale down to slightly older GPUs

Just turn down shadows/AA and you'll probably be fine, or just use the medium presets.

Fps is still in the 80s

I have two rx 470's their 24mhz slower then a 570 4gb and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy this card now. It was doing its thing two years ago but now it's maxed out in damn near every game I play so why would I recommend something like that to someone buying one now? The 6gb 1060 is 300mhz faster and 50% more vram. Idk I guess if your ok with lower settings get the 570 cuz the 1060 will out last the 570 for sure. It's low end lol amds best card is about a gtx 1070ti no where near Nvidias high end cards which above a 570 go 580 Vega 56 & 64. I'm speaking from running one of these.

There's no other option for GPUs to buy in that price range?

The 570 vs 1060/580 will maintain their 10-20fps difference, it's not like games will stop running on the RX 570 though. You're just playing at medium instead of high, probably worth a good deal saved.

The point is that it's cheap and effective, and that's generally what someone should stick to. It'll still do 1080p gaming just fine.

It will but like I said the few games I play all but two it's pegged. Since I wish I had more even a 1060 6gb I can't recommend getting something that's maxed out in most games. I personally like Hugh ultra settings and I know it won't be doing that much longer and the 1060 will be a bit longer. His choice atleast I gave my perspective on the rx which practically is the same as mine - 24mhz clock speed.

Personally when I upgrade like I am ready to now I'm waiting for close to if not the best so I know I'm good for 2-3 years which I should be OK when 11 series comes out. Of coarse a 570 and my 470 will play 1080p in 4 years but how much of a hit to graphics? You want or don't mind shit graphics grab a console which can be had cheaper.
