New laptop

Hi I'm looking for a good laptop for college around $1500. I plan to use it at school obviously but also for some light gaming and media consumption so it needs some decent horsepower. My biggest concern is the screen, I would like a high resolution screen with good color production ( why aren't oled laptops more popular). I also need a good io layout and solid keyboard. I was looking at the LG gram or the Lenovo ThinkPad x1. Thank you for any suggestions!

I would say burn in (have you seen Galaxy devices on display? It's bad). Though I think the question should really be, why aren't 1080P displays standard yet? Where do these 1366x768 displays keep coming from. They're starting to look archaic, especially on a 15inch display.

XPS something Thinkpad probably isn't bad either.

If you're trying to do gaming however find something with at least a GTX 1050

or just get like the Matebook with an R5 2500U

A high resolution display on a laptop will typically not be very useful for the average person.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I don't have a specific weight as long as it isn't ridiculously heavy maybe under 8 pounds and for battery life 7-8 hours.

Well that battery life narrows down your options to quite a few. What sort of games do you want to play?? For anything more power intensive, you willeither sacrifice battery life performance or weight. The LG Gram is good provided you don't try to play games on it at all. The thinkpads are better just make sure you get a good deal. The Dell XPS is also good but the dGPU option doesn't fit in your budget.

I'd rather sacrifice a bit of weight for performance and battery life. As for gaming I'd just be playing overwatch and that's about it.
