Moving Optiplex 790 sff to new case

I have a dell optiplex 790 sff that i've been upgrading, but i'm at the max for what the case offers me. I've been reading some stuff about potentially taking the innards and putting it into a new case, but i keep hearing about the problems with the dell mother board psu connectors and other things. So my next thought was to get a new MB, Case, and PSU, but i'm not sure where to start. Any thoughts would be very appreciated.

i would get all three at once if you have the budget if not new psu and motherboard then case

hdd: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

gpu: Asus - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Dual Series

case: NZXT - S340 Elite (White)

psu: EVGA - B3 550W 80+ Bronze

I'd agree with you here but if you :

Get a new motherboard, case & power supply.

Beyond that add/upgrade the graphics card .. you would be spending a little much on an old system.

 

You could also transfer the Dell motherboard into a new case and if it doesn't work out get a new/used motherboard compatible with your CPU.

If it fits, then hey you saved the cost of a motherboard ;)
