Components:

  • Asrock AB350 Pro4
  • AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
  • Adata XPG Gammix D10 DDR4 2666 PC4-21300 8GB CL16 (two of them in A2 and B2 slots)
  • Saphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5
  • Cooler Master G750M PSU

I ask because I can't get this PC to even get to the POST nor make any missing RAM beeps with an internal speaker. All components are brand new except the PSU which I've used for about 4 years.

Try posting using a single ramkit.

So you do not get any fan spinup at all?

Yea, all fans spin. I tried it with the single ram stick on the A2 slot and then moved it to the B2 slot. I also followed the instructions on this list here up to #23.

Spoiler

The chassis fans spun around as well when they were connected.

If it is running 1.x bios then that is the problem.

You need version 2.2 to support that CPU.

That'd be weird, as the 1600X is a Ryzen 1 CPU that launched with these boards.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

Weird or not... I pulled that list directly from the motherboard support page.

Do I need to at least pass POST before being able to update the bios?

Unfortunately YES. That means you will either need to borrow or purchase a compatible CPU or take it in to a shop that can update it... or option 3 return that motherboard and buy one with support already.

Does amd still send people boot kits? And if I can't get amd to send me one of those and RMA this mobo, how could I determine which motherboards have the correct bios version?
