so im going to assume that means theres no way to screw two 4mm aluminum sheets together? if so, then i guess rivets are going to be the answer.

Unless you were to use a bolt and a hex nut, which would be significantly bulkier than a rivet, there aernt many good alternative solutions that can be un-done easily that I'm aware of.

Hi,

I don't know whether this is a question for this forum, but, i want to custom create my own case, very simple and not too complicated, but i have run into a problem.

how are two thin metal sheets screwed together so that they can be undone to remove the side panel and access the internals?

I have looked online, found nothing that helped except riveting.

nuts and bolts wont work because you cant access the insides with the panels closed, riveting is more difficult to remove, i have been informed, so im lost as how to accomplish this.

so not as easily done as screws, but possible.

Just about any drill bit can remove them. The rivets themselves are of course unusable after this, but they are relatively cheap and effective hence why you often see them used in cases.

personally i have made custom sidepanels for my case and i put magnets on both panels with 3M scotch tape and now i can just plop it on an off very easily but again it is not as sturdy a screw, not flimsy if you get strong enough magnet but definitly not as strong in place as screw would hold it.

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

actually thats a great suggestion, i have a friend of mine who just got a bunch of small neodymium magnets, which could be glued on... thats pretty perfect actually. if they are strong enough

if you read the comments at the bottom, the reviews, the first review states "also fits ATX PSU" as a pro
