I have a semi-custom rig with an intel dx58so (LGA 1366 motherboard), A core i7 cpu (model is unknown), dual one-terabyte Seagate barracuda mechanical hard drives in raid 1, 8GB of system memory, and two EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9500 gt's; each with 1GB of vram. wouldn't I have 2 gigs two use, or is my lack of experience getting the best of me?

Nope, that's not how SLI works (assuming they're in SLI). VRAM doesn't add up.

Your lack of experience is getting the best of you. You can't just add the amount of VRAM each card has together, it doesn't work like that.

VRAM does not add when you do multi-GPU setups. I'mma do a shameless plug:
