Using your headphones as your mic

Ok guys.In my time of boredom, I plugged my headphones in the microphone input.I opened audacity and I recorded some audio...AND IT WORKED!

:o

 

 

Note : You have to literally speak in your headphones/headset/etc.

Boredom is a lovely thing isn't it. Yes this does work, mistakenly did it once when I was younger.

Yep I do this with my earbuds whenever I need a mic. Just make sure to crank up the input right up.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

You can, I accidentally swapped the mic and headphone cables on my headset once. It just sounds kinda crappy (well, what do you expect of a tiny mic not meant for that?).

Yes, but you can damage the mic so don't try it.
