What CPU Cooler should I use?

LeoNeedsHelp

Earlier, I made a forum post that was talking about My PC Specs and someone said that I forgot to get a CPU cooler. Does anyone have any suggestions on a CPU cooler that would work with the i7-8700K? Also, I'll put my PC Specs down below this message just in case the Cooler doesn't fit in the case because of everything else in it. If anyone could reply it would be much appreciated. Thanks again to everyone who replied to my last forum post and thanks to the guy who told me that I forgot about the CPU cooler. I really do appreciate it.

Here's my PC Specs:

CPU : Intel Core i7-8700k (3.7Ghz) LGA1151

Mother Board : MSI Z370 GAMING PLUS LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

RAM : Corsair Value Select Memory 16GB 2133 MHZ Dual Channel

GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X

PSU : Corsair 550 Watt CX550M Semi Modular PSU/Power Supply

HDD : Seagate Baracuda 1 TB

SSD : Samsung SSD 120 GB

OS: WINDOWS 10 x64 Anniversary Edition

Casing : Thermaltalke C22 Black Edition

CaseFan : 3 Cooler Master Sickle flow 120mm

1 Thermaltake Ring 12 140mm

Are you overclocking?

If yes i suggest BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 or Noctua NH-D15 on air and any 240MM Rad AIO will work AFAIK.

If you're not OCing at the moment, You can stick with stock cooler and buy those options later, if you are not comfortable with intel stock performance get a hyper 212 and upgrade later if you are ready to OC ur 8700k

D15S or D14. D15 and Dark Rock Pro 4 might be too tight for case though RAM isn't going to be issue (no heatspreader). But all those are bit over it, if you aren't aiming for high OC. Then Dark Rock 4 and H5 Ultimate (among others) become a thing.

Very affordably priced Scythe Mugen 5 would be very effective without any DIMM/PCI-e slot clearance issues.

In cooling per noise it actually challenges many bigger coolers.

Cryorig H7 or Thermalright Macho 120 would be still cheaper with good performance.

use the intel stock cooler but if you can't stand the extra noise, anything from noctua or be quiet will do the job nicely.

Thanks for the replies @Srnewbee and @EsaT! I have 1 question though. @EsaT, would the Cryorig H7 work with the i7-8700K?

It fits, if thats what you are asking. But the CPU is known to draw more voltage than needed with stock settings. So beware of higher temps than what you should see.

Why get an unlocked cpu and oc-enabled motherboard if you're not oc'ing?

Have you bought any of the parts yet? The case doesn't have particularly great airflow and Sickleflows are mediocre at best.

Where are you shopping / located? Budget?

you need to check the mobo for compatibility. Some motherboards have messed up back layout that prevents the backplate from being installed.

1. No, I haven't bought any of the parts yet. 2. Budget is around £1.5K. 3. Do you mind suggesting me any cases that would work well with all of my parts inside?

I'm not sure of the prices you're looking at but it looks like it can be a bit cheaper and more compact when comparing on PCPP: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/4CM66s

Use the NF-P12 PWM for an additional front intake.

For a bit more, the Meshify C provides even better airflow: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/JsKcCJ/fractal-design-meshify-c-mini-dark-tg-microatx-mini-tower-case-fd-ca-mesh-c-mini-bko-tgd

If you go with a Meshify case, a 140mm PW2 would be a bit cheaper and should provide similar performance: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/4GsKHx/be-quiet-case-fan-bl047

If the parts you're looking at are cheaper, you could get the Meshify C as a mid tower instead: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/nL7v6h/fractal-design-meshify-c-tg-atx-mid-tower-case-fd-ca-mesh-c-bko-tgl

--also comes in white: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/BBrmP6/fractal-design-meshify-c-white-tg-atx-mid-tower-case-fd-ca-mesh-c-wt-tgc

Hello! Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm really happy with the price of the parts all together from that first link that you sent. (This one - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/4CM66s ). Do you think I should use that list as it makes thing a lot easier and cheaper. also, it's helped out so much that you put the time into making this list. I'm really happy with how everything is going! Great Job!

Yep, the parts used are similar to the ones you originally listed. If it's cheaper, go with it and save some money.
