Have you tried plugging it into a different sata header?

I dont know what was your first platform from where you upgraded, but for example when i went from i5 6600 to r7 1700 i found out that i cant boot it, it bluescreened before windows could load every time. So i ended up reinstalling windows and then i could boot.

But before reinstalling install the drive to another pc and get all your valuable stuff off from there.

If you got OEM Windows it be an issue as well, doesn't it tie itself to the motherboard?

Should work regardless, taken my current installation between 3 systems so far: Core 2 Duo to Phenom X4 to FX 6300. Still boots fine.

If you have another drive spare try cloning. Make sure the spare drive is larger ofc.

You might have been able to enable CSM and boot it maybe. Anyway, no point in going there now.. make sure your windows installer drive is set to GPT/UEFI. I suspect it already is going by the error message you got, but just make sure.

Get EASUS partition master free version  https://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html

 

Select the disk and change it to GPT file system.

If you don't have an OS to use that on, then get gparted and put on cd/usb and boot, and do the same.

I have no idea. I went from the i5 6600 to r71700 and ofc i had to change motherboards and it still the licence worked after reinstalling windows on a new mobo. (I accidentally bought the oem version of windows from amazon.) But i somehow had the licence tied to my windows account or something like that.
