Planning to make a brushed aluminum backplate but I realized hmm maby I shouldn’t put a bare peice of metal on the back of my card... so I was wondering what I could coat it with.

 

conformal coating?

clear nail polish?

How about double sided tape?

Depends on what the plate is for if your adding contact points and thermal pads where it will help with heatsinking then you want it bare or unpainted in that spot ideally. As said your best to mount it off the PCB or add a sheet of non-conductive material to help insulate it.
