Just a quick question that I always wondered what people do. I always use Arctic Silver 5 when putting my blocks on instead off the stuff that comes with the blocks. Do most people tend to use there own thermal compound instead of the stuff that comes with your blocks ???

Any thermal paste will do, but yeah I use my own stuff because application is easier than trying to use thermal paste out of a ketchup packet.

For waterblocks especially on GPU's your going to want to make sure the paste is non-conductive or capacitive like how Arctic silver 5 is since there are tiny capacitors around the GPU die if it were to squeeze out.

In general the stuff that comes with the blocks is pretty good quality straight out of the box.

i always use my own compound, so i can sell the block lateron 'with all accesoires' :D

it also helps that i have atleast a 30g tube of the stuff somewhere at all times.

Yea I used Arctic Silver 5 on my GPU in the past and didn't have any problem in the past so hence why I carried on using it both on CPU and GPU. I never had a problem with it so always kind of stayed with it.

Generally it's not an issue since it's not actually conductive but being capacitive it can have potential to affect components in rare instances if they bridge connections.

Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity.
(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)

Yea I never had a problem as I said. It's hard on the GPU for it not to spread cause they say to apply more than you would compared to a CPU. I always used it since I started getting back into the PC world about 3 year ago and alot of people seem to rate it.

I use what ever I get. All th same in the end. I buy artic silver as it was the easiest to get ahold of. Have 15 ek blocks, so what every that is. And a tube of grizzly as only certain blocks will have that with the ek products.

I got Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut. But EK adds Hydronaut paste to their blocks which is also pretty good. Arctic Silver 5 is old school :P

This...

Kryonaut is one of the best and non conductive and capacative so good for CPU and GPU.

Used icy diamond for a while, but quite a difficult to apply compared to kryonaut

Artctic silver was the best 5-10 years years ago but has been bettered.  You'll likely only see a degree or two difference though.
