What modem? DSL? Fiber? Cable? There are a lot of choices there, but you don't specify what.

If you're talking about a cable modem, there isn't a market for DOCSIS 3.0 or 3.1 cable cards for PCIe so you're SOL there.

Yeah I was talking about cable. sorry, i should have mentioned that. I personally don't need something like that,  I was just curious. But I would imagine it would be helpful for people who have very simple networks (For example maybe somebody only needs their one PC connected to the internet, having a PCIe modem would avoid the need for a second device.) Or maybe if somebody just wants build their entire network just for the sake of it.

Well, I'm not aware of any such cards aimed towards the consumer-market. The choice pretty much falls between a premade DOCSIS-modem, or expensive-as-hell datacenter-stuff, with nothing in between.

I think 'building your own modem' isn't the same as 'are there any pcie cable modems'.  I came in here expecting you'd be like integrating docsis and Ethernet standards at a physical layer.

There are some Enterprise router modules that support cable but the new ones are really expensive.

I think a separate unit is a better play, you don't have to wait to synchrnoize after booting up your PC, and the external units would use a similar amount of energy as an internal card anyway.  Basically you'd be paying extra to reduce your features with an internal card.
