GTX 560/560Ti if you find a used one.

560 isn't DX12 capable as it's Fermi based and Fermi never got DX12 certification afaik. The 560 cards are also slow as molasses. And yeah, the 660Ti should be pretty damn cheap. Heck, I can find 770 2GB cards for around the $80-100 mark, same goes for the 7950 on occasion.

Aight, my bad :) still a bad card, though. 560Ti goes for €35-50 here in the Netherlands. 750Ti starts at like €75, 770 around 80-90.

7950 would be your best bet, assuming you can get one in that price range. If I remember right, it outperforms 760 in DX12

Yes, generally AMD will be better in DX12 but realistically you would want a modern card to really take advantage of any performance gains.

If that's your budget I would just buy the most powerful card you can find but at $75 the amount  of performance you will get will make it so that DX12 wont be a relevant concern imo.

Pretty much all the cards older than GTX 1000 series and older than R9 200 series wont "really" even support DX12 properly even if it's listed as compatible.

ok so my onboard gpu is a Radeon HD8670D built into my Processor wich is a AMD A10-6700. It doesnt have dedicated VRAM but uses system memory. I cant find out what DX version it is capable of running. If it can run DX12 wich i have installed in Windows 10 i should be good as i Have 16gb ram on a ASUS F2A55-m/M11BB motherboard. Im currently using a XFX Radeon 250e Core edition with Ghost cooling. Its a 1gb DDR5 gpu with DX 11.2. Does anyone know if this APU is capable of DX12? if so i will use my onboard gpu instead of my XFX Radeon R7

The R7 is about twice as fast as your APU and does "support" DX12 but it's not going to run a DX12 game much better than a DX11 game, if at all

Cause according to the XFX site its only a DX11

Yes because it fully supports all DX11 features and was designed for that API primarily, DX12 is generally only in use for the newest titles, however AMD and Nvidia have patched in DX12 support so that the cards can still run DX12 games, but may lack hardware level features to actually make use of DX12.

Ok cause i just got the most recent drivers that were released for the card on 6/18/2018 so that would have included the DX12 patch then. I mean the card isnt bad for a 1gb. im able to play most of the games i have on medium to ultra setting with very little frame skip.

Your card is barely slightly slower than the first GPU I ever bought (5770), but if it does what you need, power to you. My real point is that you should not expect any sort of bonus from DX12, only that it will work at all, it may even perform worse as it does on some modern cards depending on the game

Ok didnt know that my R7 260e Core edition was a DX12 card. even though the manufacturer said its a DX11. Like you said they patched them to run DX12. Then why does the windows store not recognize the DX12 capability then

Most likely because that card is not "really" meant to run DX12 titles although the architecture does support it technically.

Your card is actually a rebranded 7750 which was the first generation of card to even try to support DX12 but it's not really fully supported
