I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I'm on an i5 so either way its gonna be a fairly substantial leap in performance...

I mostly game so I want the extra cores in case I feel like streaming, as such clockspeed is more important to me than more cores. I am open to suggestions.

I was looking at the 7900x because 10 core hurts me plenty for what I want to do but I was wondering if anyone heard about this supposed refresh before I pull the trigger.

That was 82 days ago. I think there might've been a thread here on it. I suggest you wait for the rumoured Threadripper 2990X. 32 core, 64 thread for around $1500~.

I believe it is the confirmed 32 core CPU. It was shown at computex wasnt it?

If you simply want a load of cores, Ryzen/Threadripper does seem a generally cheaper route to that, if the CPU doesn't have other limitations for your use case compared to Intel.

I don't recall when or where I saw rumours, but I think Intel has thrown their release rule book out of the window so it is anyone's guess as to what and when. Historically, for the HEDT platforms the consumer CPUs come out at a similar time as the equivalent Xeons, and there's nothing on the radar as far as I recall.
