Hi,

Are custom built laptop a solid option.

I want a new powerful gaming pc but can't have a desktop and have to go with laptops :'(

I don't have a specific budget but just hate laptops that need 2 power bricks.

I want the best performance and don't have a specific budget, less than 5K tho :(.

I came across custom built laptops and was wondering if they were a solid option.

Is a config like this a good idea to go with or should I stick to common gaming brands?

Ok nice, but I'm looking for smth a bit more portable.

But I'll keep that in mind

custom laptops are a pretty good option since they all use standard parts, and in some cases even socketed CPU's, which makes them very easy to upgrade when they become obsolete in the future.

This is highly dependable on where you get the laptop tough.

The issue is that the P870TM is with 2 powerbricks and the P775TM1 don't have at least yet the latest i7 8800 series that is a huge boost and I'm looking for that.

I'll maybe contact them in this regard

Obsidian is better. Obsidian is probably the best in the world currently. They don't just delid. They lap the heatsinks, check for balance and do a host of other things.

Please check with Obsidian on which models they need duo power bricks for. I know for a fact that the 1080 SLI requires duo-power bricks but I forgot whether the single one requires it.

However, if you absolutely hate duo-power bricks, you can politely ask the Obsidian staff if they can source the Eurocom 780w power adapter. http://www.eurocom.com/configure(2,404,0)ec

Well, if you have the best one in mind, feel free to tell me, but I think a custom built one is a better deal overall.

Since obsidian delid the CPUs and even change the thermic paste, they lap the heatsinks, check for balance and do a host of other things, the temp will be much better.

And keep in mind that the 2 power bricks are a no for me.

Currently, I might either buy an obsidian custom laptop or a modded gt75 from MSI.
