Need help picking Noctua cooler

Sack

Hi, I've been thinking of swapping out my 5 year old Corsair H100i with a Noctua cooler ever since I took the plunge and replaced all of my case fans with Noctua ones. My problem is that I don't know for sure how I will know what will fit, and what won't, mainly been looking at the NH-D15 model since I have ram with a low heat spreader on. Anyone know if it will fit? Or possibly how I can find out if it will fit (what/where to measure)?

CPU: Intel i7-4770k (not overclocked)

RAM: Kingston Hyper X beast x4
Case: Corsair 750D

It will fit. As for your ram since you say it’s low profile I’m 95% sure it will fit but if it doesn’t you can just move the fan up a bit

I have a 760t corsair and a high profile ram with that noctua, dont worry it will fit for sure , the main issue is that you need to lift a little bit (if so) the right fan , to make a little space for the ram.

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

Or move fan to other side.

Would that have any bad effects? Cuz I just see people moving up the fans. And about moving up the fans, will THAT have any bad effects? (Not really an air cooler dude I like my aesthetics but just in case I get one in the future)

Moving fan to other side doesn't. You might need to consider if you need rear exhaust or not. Moving it upwards is maybe. If you would need to move it so much that 1/3 of fans area is above cooler, you will loose some of its performance. How much that is in temps, I don't know. And I don't think anyone has tested it. Usually you need to move so little it stays within margin of error.

It will fit just fine.

Suggestion, try to buy used because even if someone used it, they are usually not battered and looks no different from new

Moving the fans away from center or a fan to the back of the heatsink is generally slightly worse but it's not a huge difference.

Are you sure you have HyperX Beast ram? That's pretty tall at 46.5mm compared to the standard profile for ram at ~30mm. In either case, it should still fit with the adjusted fans. The NH-D15 has a cut out for ram up to 64mm.

Are you planning to oc? The NH-D15 is massive overkill if you're just using stock settings.

NH-D15

NH-D15S ships with one fan and the fin stacks are off-set for RAM and pci-e clearance.

Runs within 3C of the NH-D15 with two fans.
