Xbox One S 500GB | Slow setup update speed

AtlanticCanuck

I just got my Xbox One S 500GB (Middle Earth: Shadow of War) from a class graduation party giveaway Friday night and I waited til today (23rd) to get it set up. Currently, it's taking forever to update, as of this article it has shut off once on me and is currently sitting at 39% and has been updating (including the time when it was shut off) for about 3-4 hours now. My internet speed is 160 down / 15 up when wired, it is typically sitting at 50 down, 20 up when wireless in my house. So I'm not sure if it's a wireless connection issue or not. No other devices (other than my phone cus its bad) is having any wireless issues. I will say I did order an ethernet splitter so I can have it on my gaming desk with my potato computer but it won't arrive for a few days. Are Microsoft's servers being flooded 24/7 or is there something I could do to easily resolve this?

Thanks.

Gaming Desktop Specs:

ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming Motherboard
Ryzen 5 3600 CPU
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (2x8GB 3200MHz)

AMD Wraith Prism RGB CPU Cooler

NZXT HALE 82 850W Semi-Mod PSU
Crucial P1 M.2 2280 500GB [Boot]

Seagate Barracude Compute 2TB [HDD]

WD MyPassport 1TB [EHD]

Desk Items and Peripherals:
Corsair HS50 Pro Headset
Corsair MM300 Extended
Corsair M65 Pro RGB
Corsair Strafe Mk 2 Keyboard
Acer VG240Y V 165hz 1080p Gaming Monitor

ASUS ROG STRIX GL703VM Gaming Laptop (on the move gaming)

What can I say? I'm a Corsair fanboy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ethernet splitter? do you mean a switch?

Honestly it should not take that long to update the Xbox at all, something is wrong but I don't know what.

Does it say it is downloading or installing?  If downloading can you see traffic on your router for your xbox?

Where exactly does it freeze??

The Update Process with Consoles has two parts:

a) Downloading the stuff
b) installing the stuff

first thing I'd try is to try it with a LAN Cable and not wireless.
