O I just bought the FX-8350 and learned that My Mobo Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 Requires Bios Version 1006 And, according to my system Information I have version 0601 which surprised me as I bought the mobo after the FX-8350 was already out for awhile. Anyways I geuss I need to flash my BIOS does anyone now any videos on how to do it safely? Preferabbly from Linus or NCIX because I trust them.

My Motherboard comes with a program called AI Suite which has a program Called Asus Update which gives me the option to Either Update from Internet, Download from Internet, Update from file Should I use this?

Shouldn't be difficult, download the BIOS from the motherboard website and I think you stick it on a flashdrive and install it from there, that is how MSI does it.

What happens if It doesn't work? will it void warranty?

if it fails the warranty will be fine but you could brick the system and have to RMA it. Warranties should cover it though, and the chances of it failing are quite low.

Obviously it won't void the warranty if the BIOS update was from the manufacturer.

Okay its just really scary

I would update it through AI and see where it goes

Ohh well that sucks, anyway download the BIOS file from Asus, extract it (probably will come with a readme file anyway telling you how to install it) and take it from there.

I flashed my BIOS over windows because I was lazy. Now I am month without PC :/ So I recommend you to do it over DOS which is most reliable but it will take some of your time. You should be ok flashing it from inside of BIOS it self on usb stick. Good luck!

Congrats! I flashed my bios  this morning.(usb)

Every time i update my bios i start the process, and walk away cringing.

Only to return to see if it went smoothly.

It always does.

Cool, I'm glad it went well but flashing the BIOS today really isn't as risky as it used to be
