Need a suggestion for a cheap M.2 nvme drive

Radium_Angel

This is for a testbed system I'm working on.

It's an older system (Dell PowerEdge 2900 III), and I've bought a PCIe adapter that has the following specs:

"Double ports Connects one B key & one M key for NGFF SSD

Compliant with PCI Express M.2 specification 1.0

Compliant with SATA 3.0 specification for B key

Compliant with PCI-E 3.0 specification for M key

Supports data transfer up to 6Gbps

Supports SATA-based B key and PCI-E M.2 NVME PCI-E M key NGFF SSD

Supports 2230、 2242、2260、2280、22110 size M.2 NGFF SSD

One NGFF B Key and one NGFF M key sockets available

10 screw holes 2230/2242/2260/2280/22110 available to fix NGFF SSD cards

Easy installation & no driver required

No additional power required

Support boot function

Supports any OS, like Windows, WinCE, Mac & Linux etc.

Please note that for B key SSD the SATA 7 pin connector must be connected to motherboard

The following interface USES the NGFF, which is the interface of the PCI-E signal to directly support M.2 SSD for PCI-E"

Got it for free, wish to throw in a cheap nvme card into it and see what's what.

Since this is a testbed/experimental box, I don't want to throw a ton of cash at a drive, so the cheaper the better. If it dies in a year I'm not worried.

Do they even make them in 32/64 gig size?

What might you suggest here?

Microcenter's in-house Inland brand has a 128GB for $40 http://www.microcenter.com/product/503684/128GB_3D_TLC_NAND_PCIe_Gen_3_x2_NVMe_M2_2280_Internal_Solid_State_Drive

Never used it. Can't vouch for it.

Thx. That's cheap. Uses the E8 Phison controller which is a slower one (compared to other nvme ones) but still plenty fast for my purposes.

Anything out there cheaper?

Mushkin has VERY affordable NVMe SSDs.

My ssd is a 500GB Mushkin only cost $140 and it has a 2600MB/s seq read

Only downside is they have green a PCB

Here you go:

https://www.amazon.com/Mushkin-PILOT-500GB-Internal-MKNSSDPL500GB-D8/dp/B07CYJ4GS3/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1529597421&sr=8-1&keywords=Mushkin+NVMe+SSD

Can confirm they are legit, I bought one and am currently using it

The 120 isn't cheaper than that other one but it IS PCIe Gen 3 x4

Edit:
I also recommend this if you get one, it's a heatsink for them, if you have room for the mounting and back plate

Thank you. I've ordered the heatsink and 120GB model.

I got a red one, it wasn't the exact one you linked to, but it was close.
