look in the above posts.

Personally, I don't see the 8086K as worth it.

Just go for the 8700K now or deal with the bottleneck until the new generation releases.

My cpu is a big bottleneck and I plan on upgrading, Is it worth to wait for the 8 core or just get a 8086k? I will be overclocking either way.

What do you do with it?

It's a fine CPU, if you don't have any use for the next 2 cores, there's no reason to wait. We have no news about any changes coming with Coffee Lake-R that make it perform better except in all-core loads.

Current build? If you have a quad-core post-Sandy Bridge, just wait. If you're on AMD K7/Bulldozer, just get the 8086K.

I run a few vms. But I made a mistake with a xeon. Its ok for running vms like pfsense and freenas, but while gaming the fps drops to 30-50.

I've seen a lot of these threads lately on reddit and to answer your question. YES, its worth waiting for once you know that its going to be slighty lower than the 7820X in terms of price. 6 core 8700k or pre selected 8700ks with 5ghz oc (8086k) are still very good if you can get them cheap.
