doesn't exist, do you mean ubuntu 18.04 lts, and if so thats a good begginer pick.

Yes, that.

Could have sworn 17.04 LTS was a thing...

As you are not familiar with Linux as of yet. Going with Ubuntu might be the best option.

That's not to say the other Distributions are not as easy. It's just more accessible. The next option would be Mint.

Ubuntu typically has a lot of support for many apps and the app I am using so I guess il go with that.

Got Ubuntu on my desktop. I find it quite unstable. I had trouble just grouping the apps into a category folder. (Options in the setting don't work and I had to third party app)

I get at least one error message a week. Login in screen sometimes freeze on me and I had to login into command line terminal for a reboot.

The genome launcher is also so slow. Sometims an app has a delay of 10 seconds before launching and often I had to launch it quite a few times for it to work.

I say get mint cinnamon. That thing is so much more stable and UI so much more responsive.

That's not LTS 18.04 is LTS or 16.04

But ubuntu is prety bad. My favorite distro is Manjaro linux for begginers and arch for advanced users. I use arch linux 2 years now and it's rock stable and fast.

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

Hi, new Linux user here. I have been trying several different Linux OSs, most of which have really disappointed me with bugs, slugginish and looking ugly and dated. And I honestly feel like I am stuck with Linux Mint Cinnamon.

Linux Mint Cinnamon. It’s boring. And that makes it excellent. Because it leaves nothing to complain about. It just works. It is the simplest Linux OS to use bar none. It looks a lot like Windows Vista with green accents. Yes, Linux Mint Cinnamon is truly the most boring OS. And that’s why it’s good.

On a side note, avoid anything with “XFCE” in it. It’s a clunky ugly interface favoured by Linux power users. XFCE looks like a dogs breakfast out of the box but you can customize it to your hearts content.

EDIT: Ubuntu 18.04 is mostly OK. But it’s kinda slow and there are some bugs. Linux Mint Cinnamon is so much better. It is so much better! But you can do a lot worse than Ubuntu 18.04. Anything Mate or XFCE is worse.

I am using 19 already. It’s faster than 18.3

I use it for work so I can't really be running "beta" software, just in case, I lose work or something bugs while updating aws things.
