I've edited on a Pentium with 4 gbs of ram. Just depends on how much patience you have. Most people just getting into editing will use next to nothing.

Do you need to do any gaming?

Went a bit ham on the SSD

Save the rest of your budget for a 4k display and then a next generation GPU in a few months

Could add a 240mm AIO or tower cooler, bit overkill for an APU though.

How small do you want the case? If you stick with the APU you could get an almost NUC sized PC.

And, as small as pos without losing performance @Streetguru

You could save up a bit more and get a Hades Canyon NUC, still need to add RAM and an M.2 drive I think>

What gpu @Streetguru 1050 ti

You don't need a GPU if you aren't doing gaming. The 8700 on it's own should be fine unless there are some effects/codecs that really need a GPU of some kind. If you were doing 4k it might be necessary.

If it's not good enough you can add a GPU later, plenty of room with the Core 500.

or the Hades Canyon NUC comes with a pretty solid GPU.

I was looking at them but you can't upgrade them can you, in terms of gpu cpu @Streetguru

Nope. Though you probably won't be able to upgrade the Coffee Lake motherboard either. 8700/K is likely to be the best CPU they'll release for it. Or the next gen won't be much faster.

You could also just look into a laptop with external GPU options, not sure on the problems or limitations there

If you wanted to start with that PC it leaves you cash for a dedicated GPU if you end up needing one, or you can jump to a ryzen 8 core at some point, but the APU on it's own should be fine for 1080p gaming

Need to look up reviews with premiere editing though.

Also why does it need to be ITX?

An i5 (even 7600/7600k would work), Fast 16GB RAM and an SSD.

core i5 = $150-170

16GB RAM = $150-200

SSD 240 GB = $70

Don't need a gpu in the start but you can get a 750TI for $50 if needed.

Main system (Mini itx 80mm)

i5-7500 | Asrock h110m | Noctua L9i | Realan H80 Case | 8GB 2400 Ram ADATA | M600 SSD | 500 GB Seagate

Other System (Laptop)

i7 3632QM | Toshiba | 8GB Corsair VS RAM | Sandisk SSD PLUS | 500GB Toshiba HDD
