Ok so bear with me, the windows update the other night really messed up my PC.  I woke up and found that it had been running the whole night after I had slept it.  This was with the screen closed as well.  So when I went and opened it up I was able to login and see an update had come through.  Pretty much as soon as I had seen that, it started freezing up and gave me an error message which I cannot remember now.  Then went into a bootloop telling me that the drive had become unseated.  I ordered a thumb drive so I could download the Iso on it and reinstall windows or repair it.  Well on today after I got the thumb drive and the Iso on it i went to install Windows.  It pulls into the setup screen but it didn't list my 500 gb Seagate has.  I pulled the back off and unplugged the hdd then replugged it in.  I can hear it spin up and even the needle move across the platters.  And no it isn't the click of death.  I am really stumped here.  Could someone please help me here.

Unplug all drives except the one you want to install on and set it as the first thing in the boot priority list after your USB installation drive.

No, it's not detecting the drive at all.  I am currently running off the Iso drive

Drives controller board has failed then, or the laptop SATA controller did.

Only way to be certain is to put the drive in another system and see what happens

@FallenPhoenixRA

The pics look ok, but if the IC chips have failed internally, you'll never see the damage. Can you put the drive in another system and see what gives?

He isn't willing to let me....

Without being able to put the drive into another system to determine this, you're kind of out of luck. Go buy a known used hard drive and put in your system, and see what happesn
