Can my PC run on a 27" Gsync Monitor IPS WQHD 1440p at 144hz?

You can always just run games at 1080p on the 1440p monitor, that way you can actually hit 144hz.

The monitor resolution doesn't dictate the game resolution.

Good day!

I want ask a question if my system can handle a monitor that is:

-27 inches

-1440p resolution

-144hz at least (at max. settings for say games like GTA V, Pubg, CSGO, etc.)

I'm watching out for the monitor Acer Predator XB271HU because im planning to buy one by next year...

or the Asus PG258Q (TN) or Viewsonic XG2703-GS (IPS) or the Asus PG278q (TN)

I have never own a high refresh rate monitor and an IPS monitor before...

Here are my quick specs:

Nvidia ASUS Strix OC 3fan gtx 1060 6gb 192-bit

Ryzen r7 1700

Corsair Vengeance ddr4 2x8gb 2666mhz

Should I even consider buying a Gsync monitor? Is it worth the buy for my system? or Gsync is worth buying? This is for long-investment term...

Can it run at max. settings? possible to reach at least 100fps???

Thank you.

-27 inches

That doesnt make any difference at all.

-1440p resolution at 144hz.

CS:GO yes, PUBG at low 60fps, GTA V at low 100hz, at high 60fps.

I dont know how you expect max settings with a 6gb 1060 at 1440p. You need at least a 1070 for 1440p ultra 60fps, and if talking about 1440p over 144hz max settings you will need a 1080ti.

The 6gb 1060 is a 1080p medium-high 60fps card.

And no, you can't.  Neither the CPU or GPU are powerful enough for that.  You'd have to upgrade both.

To be honest, he was being polite. Member misread it, OP replied in a non-dickish matter. Not like he went "hey dicktard read it again ffs."

On that note I jump onto the bandwagon of the 1060 being a 1080p (generally) high settings card, so you will have to drop settings to break 60FPS at 1440p.

He was pretty polite. But the cpu when overclocked is pretty good, but gpu is lackluster.

Sorry my bad, but my point still stands. To run at 1440p 60fps you have to drop to medium-high in older games like GTA 5 (yes gta 5 old) and in newer games even lower.

You can't get close to 144hz with that gpu even at all low settings.

I felt like saying it twice was rather rude, but maybe it's just how I read it.

It's not just the 1060 though.  A 1700 is going to struggle to reach 100fps on max settings in most games.  With only half the cores being utilized and moderate single-core performance, it just won't keep up.

Doesnt look that bad to me, especially if OC'ed.

No, no way in hell it will run gta v or pubg maxed out  at 1440p 144fps. CSGO is more likely though, and if you're willing to sacrifice some settings for a smoother experience you may still get 100 fps or more for the other two.

While it's true that those are the kind of games you're more likely to want a high frame rate in, they're far from the most CPU-demanding games.  There's also no indication that the OP has overclocked.

It's not that the 1700 is a bad CPU.  It's certainly better than my 4790k in most cases.  It's just not designed for high refresh rate gaming.

Yeah, the 1700 is more of a budget workstation cpu

with Gsync even 80FPS (80hz) is already really smooth...i don't get this obsession for the 144hz...it's pointless...i own one myself with a powerful computer and i can tell you that it's hard/impossible to tell the difference between say 100FPS and 144FPS....especially with Gsync.

Oh. Thank you. I'll take note of this... I wasn't being rude. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way. It just sucks that GPUs and Gsync are too expensive...

Well, I guess I dont have any choice. I'll see what can my machine do if I already bought my monitor. Then I would judge it if I could be satisfied by its performance...

I'm playing 1440p 165hz gsync, with a 4790k @ 4.5 and a 1070 games that runs a 165fps ( rocket league - csgo - dota2 - path of exile ....(all games that are meant for competitive with shadows mid postprocesing mid effects mid, rest high) rainbow6 (80-90fps all high(no difference between high-med in performance)) pubg (pray to have 60fps steady)

a 1060 are meant for 60 fps at high but you should achieve 144 in all competitive games (including fortnite) at medium shadows-postpo
with gsync you dont notice frame drops (its better at 144hz but if you are playing at 80fps its going to be smooth) a good monitor lasts more than 1 gpu.

I just want a tear-free gaming experience thats all. I mean, I already spend about $1,400 on my system unit alone. Why not invest big on the display as well... I'm getting hyped about it. Anyways, I have aplenty of months ahead of me to think about it if gsync is totally worth it to buy... Or I should just buy a high-refresh rate monitor that should been a priority... Idk, this is for long-term investment btw. Future-proof on the display-department maybe?

well for your case gsync its waay better because you have a 1060 that is going to have a little frame drops. with a 1080ti you dont care about gsync if your gpu can pull every time 144fps. gsync works when fps are 2-5% lower than max.(142fps more or less)

If you are thinking on it, buy it, for my experience 144hz + gsync (although i got 1440p also) its a game changer, first impresion is you coudnt tell if its you playing or a video at source quality (thats the kind of smoothness) and fast paced games (that has fast animations) are so wonderful to see (where a animation that takes 1 second you see 60 images now you are seeing 144 that gives to that animation realism)

you can play a mix of medium and high settings at 75 to 100FPS in most demanding games and get an epic experience...1440p and Gsync is a blessing...i'm sure you'll love it...i bought my monitor back when i was using a GTX 780 and even then it was very amazing.

At least in offline yes , in online there is a dip in fps so you might tweak some settings at medium.
