Upgrade to 2700x from 1800x?

So I have a bit of extra cash laying around and I'm wondering if I should use it to upgrade my 1800x to the newly released 2700x. Not doing any mobo upgrades, still going to be using the C6H X370

Is it worth it? My 1800x is stable at 3.9Ghz at 1.33 VCORE which is very good. However, in order to get through the 4Ghz barrier I need to go well over 1.4 Vcore which I'm not really comfortable with in the long run. I did manage to game a bit on the cpu at 4.0 before it became unstable. I did notice a marked improvement in FPS with just 100Mhz bump. So if the 2700x is reaching above 4.0 I can't help but wonder if that's a worthy upgrade.

The 2700X is a 1800X :/

barely noticeable difference in performance truth be told, you could try a different approach letting it turbo boost to 4.1ghz on a few cores instead of doing a all cores 3.9ghz overclock.

Not really, its only a 5% performance increase. Wait for ryzen 7nm, or if you really want to buy something, get a better gpu/ more ram/ faster storage

start with OCing the memory but if you are clapped out specs wise, case, cables and watercooling would be the next things to sink your money into ;)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Sticking with Ryzen. Amazing performance across the board so far.

Likely not worth it.

Maybe not, but it does get a pretty hefty boost over a 2700x, especially when overclocked

Yeah, but you'd get better performance with a coffee lake.
