good computer.. bad fps

Versti

So basically I'm getting around 30 average fps on Garry's Mod.

my PC:

Gigabyte AB350-gaming 3 motherboard

Gigabyte G1 6GB GTX 1060 (factory OC'ed)

Ryzen 7 1700 Oc'ed to 3.4Ghz, (8 cores 16 threads)

Corsair 16GB Vengence 2133Mhz

don't flame me for running a ryzen 7 on a b350, i was stupid back then, i know for a fact that it's not the problem.. because i get really high fps on other games like Overwatch and Battlefield 1.

my Gmod settings are on the lowest but still 30 fps, even when i change process priority to High.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check your fps limit that might be set to 30, do you have the correct drivers etc.

And B350 is fine for R7 the only one that shouldn't really be touched unless it's an R3 is the A3x0 (can't remember what number x is)

EDIT- try typing fps_max 60 into console might help

open garrys mod console (i think its the same as css or csgo) check fps_max command and try to put it to 60 or more.

Is there no FPS cap? I notice that in the pic those are the advanced settings, so go back and check for that ig.

there is no fps limit, i said 30 average cuz it keeps jumping from like 20 to 50 and averages on like 25-35

dont run on lowest settings , if overwatch and bf1 runs well (and with that setup you should do 60fps+)  try to use nvidia gforce experience to force some auto settings.

I have the same problem, I have found that putting cl_forcepreload 1 in the console before joining a server helps a bit. HOWEVER, if your willing to put in a bit more work, set your launch options.
HOW TO FIND IT

1: Go to steam library
2: Right click on Gmod
3: Click on Properties
4: Click on Set launch options
5: paste this in: -windowed -noborder -console -high -winxp -nod3d9ex -nojoy -processheap -directX 9.0 -full -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -w 1920 -h 1080 +cl_cmdrate 100 +myinfo_bytes 2000 +cl_updaterate 101 +rate 30000 +r_hu

MAKE SURE GAME IS CLOSED WHEN PUTTING THIS IN OR IT ILL NOT WORK

Please make sure that the -w 1920 -h 1080 is the w/h of your monitor. If this doesn't help, then let me know :D

PC specs:

GTX 1060 3gb
Intel Core 15 6500
1tb hard drive
8 gigs ram

AVERAGE MULTIPLAYER FPS: 20-170 (depends on the server)

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

GMOD uses 1 core max it doesn't matter your specs gpu does little to nothing its all CPU everyone gets roughly the same fps, intel cpus get more because of higher single core performance. I have 5k hours on gmod nothing helps besides multicore rendering it can bug out but it should work fine it will boost fps.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=718934470

also higher settings push the cpu more so it will boost fps don't play on low it has no benefit over high
